Hennigan, which mandated that Boston schools be desegregated by means of busing – hundreds of protesters should up at his doorsteps. There were many death threats tossed his way, which necessitated federal protection. Of course, this is not really what this piece is about, but that is the backstory.

But I’m confused about the timeline. The Metco kids were at WHS starting, I believe, in 1968. Perhaps there was a new resistance movement in 1974, requiring security for Judge Garrity.
